Vestiaire Collective has become the first resale program to achieve B Corp status in the world, reflecting its commitment to social and environmental standards.
The investiture comes off the back of Vestiaire’s sustainable and inclusive objectives, namely: working to improve the footprint of its operations through a roadmap to hit net climate benefit by 2025, empowering its community of customers by reducing the impact of fashion on the environment, working on systemic change in the fashion industry, and working to set an example as a company in how best to empower its workers.
“We are incredibly proud to become the world’s first globally operating and large B Corp certified resale platform,” president and co-founder Fanny Moizant said.
“Vestiaire Collective was born with the idea that we can drive change for a more sustainable future. Today, this recognition is more evidence that we can make it.
“We are extremely honoured to join a growing and pioneering community and we hope it is only the beginning of a broader move that will trigger even more commitment among our industry and community of fashion activists.”
Vestiaire’s chief sustainability and inclusion officer Dounia Wone said the certification was a great reward for her team, which were created only a year ago.
“It is the result of unprecedented collective mobilisation, and we would like to thank and congratulate our colleagues, community, partners, and our investors who have all contributed to this success,” said Wone.
