The longest partial lunar eclipse in more than 500 years has dazzled night skies around the world, in an event dubbed the "blood moon" due to its red haze.
- Friday's partial lunar eclipse lasted 3 hours, 28 minutes and 23 seconds
- It lit up night skies across the United States, Asia and South America
- A longer partial lunar eclipse is expected to take place in 2669
According to NASA, the partial eclipse, which lasted 3 hours, 28 minutes and 23 seconds, was the longest since February 18, 1440.
Stunning views of the Moon could be seen in parts of the United States, Asia and South America.
During the eclipse, up to 99.1 per cent of the Moon's disk was within Earth's darkest shadow, NASA said.
If you missed it, you will have to wait until 2669 to see a partial lunar eclipse that is longer than this one.
However, there will be a longer total lunar eclipse in November 2022.
