Forbes Shire Council mayor Phyllis Miller said the clean-up was under way as the water travelled into Jemalong, Bedgerabong and Condobolin.

Moderate flooding is likely along the Lower Lachlan River at Condobolin later this week. The bureau has warned of minor flooding from Tuesday morning and moderate flood levels on Friday.

“As this water travels through, we know that there will be people that will be isolated,” Cr Miller said in a social media update on Monday.

“You may need food supplies, medical supplies or medical appointments.”

She encouraged affected residents to call the SES to arrange for the delivery of groceries.

“We’ll get those supplies out to you,” Cr Miller said.

“We have got some more rain expected on Wednesday and Thursday in the catchment, and we’ll just have to see what happens with that.”

Authorities have repeated their pleas for people across the state not to drive through floodwaters.

A man was rescued from a ute swept off a causeway in Merriwa, in the NSW Upper Hunter, on Monday morning.

He was pulled to safety by the Volunteer Rescue Association’s Merriwa squad, with assistance from police and paramedics.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said they were called about 6.30am to the scene. The man, who was the single occupant of the vehicle, was uninjured.

Meanwhile, a woman was killed when she was struck by a falling tree branch near Lake Macquarie.

Five NSW Ambulance crews were sent about 6.30pm on Sunday to Watagans National Park at Cooranbong, where 43 millimetres of rain fell in the 24 hours to 9am on Monday.

Police said that, despite the efforts of her relatives and first responders, the woman, aged in her 30s, could not be revived.

“At the time of the incident, weather conditions were poor, with the area being drenched by heavy rain throughout the day,” NSW Police said in a statement. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
