Dashcam footage has captured the moment a scooter rider was viciously set upon by two men on the side of a busy road in Logan, south of Brisbane.
The minute-long clip, shared to the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page, showed the two men approach Wembley Road, in Logan Central on Thursday.
“Two men lay in wait to attack a man riding a scooter with lumps of timber. Rider was forced onto the road to avoid the two attackers when he was struck by a passing truck,” a description, submitted with the footage, reads.
“The attackers ran to a nearby vehicle and fled. I believe the attackers were arrested nearby and the victim was taken to hospital (condition unknown). Footage will be provided to Police.”
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman told news.com.au that emergency services were called to Jacaranda Avenue around 2.49pm on Thursday afternoon.
Paramedics transported the 25-year-old man to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition, she said, having sustained minor injuries.
Police are currently investigating the assault, which caused the man to lose control of his scooter and land in the path of an oncoming truck.
“Two men and a woman fled the scene in a maroon Nissan patrol, which was intercepted by police nearby on Jacaranda Street,” a Queensland Police spokeswoman told news.com.au.
“The trio was taken into custody and transported to Logan Central Station. The woman was later released after investigations revealed she had no part in the assault.
“Paramedics transported the 25-year-old man to the PA Hospital in a stable condition, where it was later confirmed he had a skull fracture.
“At this stage, the 25-year-old has declined to make a formal complaint and the two men have been released.”
The clip has been viewed more than 38,000 times, with Facebook users expressing their distress at the incident.
“Bit disturbing, this,” wrote one, sharing the footage, while another wrote, “What is happening to our country?!”
“Lock them up and throw away the key,” commented one man.
“What the actual hell!!! They could of killed the person,” said another.
