Casey de Farria is a 30-year-old mother of two from Campbelltown in Sydney's south-west who is ecstatic that The Wiggles came out on top in triple j's Hottest 100 countdown on the weekend.

"Being the age that I am, I grew up with The Wiggles from a very young age, and they were a big part of my life," Ms de Farria said.

"I was one of those kids who really liked music and dancing.

"That was a big start in my life of being a music fan and a dancer for a long time as well."

Ms de Farria warehoused her love for The Wiggles when she was a teenager, but when she became a mother to Willow, three, and Ivy, who is one and a half, the band came back into her life.

That's why she voted for The Wiggles' cover of Tame Impala's Elephant to top the Hottest 100.

"It was really exciting to see them do something that's, I guess, relevant to my life now, to my kids now, and to my past.

Ms de Farria celebrated in the moment with her children.

"I got to pick up my three-year-old who sang the lyrics to the song when they played it both times, and dance around."

"I was absolutely over the moon just to be able to share that moment with my kids as well.

"It just felt like a full circle kind of thing. It meant a lot."

Ms de Farria wasn't fazed by the other songs in the Top 10, which included a few f-bombs.

"I listen to songs in the car with them that I probably shouldn't, so that wasn't really something I was overly concerned with.

"Especially in the setting we're at – we're at a get-together with other families who are like minded."

Seven of the songs Ms de Farria voted for ended up in the Hottest 100, including two in the top 10 – Happier than Ever by Billie Eilish and Montero (Call Me By Your Name) by Lil Nas X.

Ms de Farria said there was something comforting about The Wiggles winning, given the last couple of years has been tough on a lot of people.

"Just looking at their faces, watching the video when they won, and how truly joyful and appreciative they were, honestly, it's so wholesome."

Eighteen-year-old Jackson Lees from Mount Eliza in Victoria was a bit emotional when The Wiggles, who he'd voted in at number one, actually went on to win the Hottest 100.

He was at the Australian Open at the time.

"We were just so nervous," he said.

"And we quickly were just clicking on the app and we walked out of the Aus Open and we bolted straight down the street and found a nice spot and were listening to it."

He said The Wiggles' take on a song he's been "digging for the past 10 years" was the best Like A Version he's ever heard.

"The top 10 this year was actually brilliant. I reckon everyone deserved to get in there.

"But I reckon Wiggles at number one, I was so stoked with that.

Amy Ramires, 24, is a Bundjalung woman who grew up in Yuin country on the south coast of NSW, and now lives in Darwin.

She also voted for The Wiggles at number one, and said their win was inevitable.

"I think I just knew from the moment I heard the cover earlier on in the year.

"I remember driving into work and being like, yes, The Wiggles are on Like A Version: it's going to be great, it's going to be awesome.

"And then hearing it, I just knew from then it was going to be number one.

"No doubt, no question."

Ms Ramires was ecstatic when the number one song played.

"I was at a friend's house … and she was really wanting Stay [by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber] to win.

"So when it got down to that final two, we were just looking at each other.

"And as soon as they started mentioning the best collab of the year, I knew that Stay had come second, and The Wiggles was first.

"And she was just giving me death stares for the rest of the time I was over at her place."

Mr Ramires grew up with The Wiggles, and has watched as they've evolved.

"They were my first concert as well. I'm sure it was the case for many people my age.

"They're a part of your foundation of your childhood.

"So hearing that blend between Fruit Salad and also Tame Impala, it was pretty special."
