NSW recorded 10,650 new infections - a jump from yesterday's 8874 positive tests.

Another five people died with the virus in the state, while 28 deaths were recorded in Victoria.

In Victoria, there were 7126 new infections, a slight rise from the 6879 cases detected yesterday.

There are 264 patients in hospital with COVID-19 in Victoria, compared to 1072 people in NSW hospitals with the virus.

A total of 59.4 per cent of Victorians have had their booster jab, while third dose vaccination rates sit at 54.5 per cent in NSW.

Queensland reported 24 new COVID-19 deaths and 5011 new cases.

There are 312 people in hospital with the virus and 26 people in ICU.
