Sydneysiders have enjoyed their last clear, sunny day for the month, with the Bureau of Meteorology warning the city will receive showers each day for the rest of April.
After a major storm system hit Sydney on Tuesday night, the clouds quickly parted to pour sunshine across the harbour city on Wednesday morning.
But bureau meteorologist Miriam Bradbury said it was short-lived with rain expected to stick around from Thursday until “well into next week”.
The rain will come as two weather systems line up one after the other, bringing cloudy and patchy rain to Sydney for the foreseeable future, she said.
“There’s no guarantee of a beautiful, sunny day for the end of April, but the weather will do what the weather will do, unfortunately,” she said.
On Thursday, a high-pressure system will settle over the Tasman Sea to bring rainfall totals of between five and 10 millimetres until the end of the week. This will quickly be followed up by another trough that will approach during “the early part of next week” and cause showers to persist.

“So, unfortunately, in the next week or so at least, there’s no clear break after today,” Bradbury said.
“They are showers rather than steady rain, so we might see some patches of sunshine but, for the most part, it’s going to be partly to mostly cloudy with those showers continuing to stream through.”
