West Australian Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson is expected to announce a further easing of COVID-19 restrictions during a press conference at 1pm.
The state remains the only jurisdiction in the country still enforcing an indoor mask mandate and one of only two still requiring density limits at hospitality venues as most transition to managing the virus through individual discretion.
Most other states have also loosened isolation requirements so close contacts who regularly return a negative test are no longer required to stay at home.
In WA, household contacts and intimate partners of positive cases must isolate for seven days. Venues must adhere to the two-square-metre rule and major events must operate at 75 per cent capacity. Masks must also be worn in indoor public settings.
Premier Mark McGowan, who usually makes major COVID-19 announcements, remains in isolation after testing positive to the virus on Thursday, along with other members of his family.
More to come.
