A man shot dead in the south-western Sydney suburb of Greenacre is understood to be crime figure Mahmoud "Brownie" Ahmad.

Officers were called to Narelle Crescent in Greenacre at around 9.30pm on Wednesday night following reports of multiple shots being fired and found a man aged in his late 30's with gunshot wounds.
He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene in Sydney's south-west.
While police say he's yet to be formally identified, the ABC understands he is the crime figure, who had recently served jail time over the fatal shooting of a man outside a Condell Park smash repair shop in 2016.
Mr Ahmad was the brother of slain underworld figure Walid 'Wally' Ahmad, who was killed in 2016 in Bankstown.
Detectives are also investigating whether two cars which were set alight in Greenacre and Belmore later in the night are linked to the shooting.
Homicide Squad detectives and forensics officers remain at the scene.
