Australian fans of Lil Nas X will finally get a chance to see the rapper live on stage, with the Grammy Award winner set to headline Falls Music Festival later this year.
Returning for the first time since 2019, Falls Festival was always set to be the subject of much excitement but the announcement of Lil Nas X has proven to be a major coup for the festival.
Lil Nas X is headed to Australia for the first time ever as part of the Falls Festival lineup.
Lil Nas X (real name: Montero Lamar Hill) has become one of the biggest stars in music since bursting onto the scene in 2019 off the back of the viral single, Old Town Road.
In 2021, he released his debut album, Montero which reached number one on the ARIA Album Chart, while also landing a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. The success of Montero helped cement the 23-year-old as pop culture’s most interesting star.
Lil Nas X leads an impressive lineup that also includes Arctic Monkeys, Peggy Gou and Pink Pantheress as well as a solid homegrown contingent in Ocean Alley, Spacey Jane, Genesis Owusu, and DMA’S.
Tickets to Falls Festival will be available from 9am, Thursday 12 May, with the festival set to begin in Victoria on December 29, before moving to Byron Bay on New Year’s Eve, and finishing up in Western Australia in early January.
While Lil Nas X has not previously toured in Australia, the pop star is no stranger to our musical exports. Last month he expressed his admiration for The Wiggles on Twitter, posting, “trying really hard to get the wiggles to co-headline the tour with me. I will keep you guys updated.”
