From inclusive signage and all-gender bathrooms, to gender-neutral uniforms and name tags that can be edited to include a person’s pronouns, Ikea Australia is on a mission to make people of all gender identities and sexual orientations feel at home in its stores. We recently spoke with Ikea Australia’s equality, diversity, and inclusion leader Josh Rozairo about some of the changes the company made in conjunction with International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (

and Biphobia (IDAHOTB), and why he thinks more businesses should take action.
“I believe that representation is really important. And when it comes to ensuring customers and co-workers feel at home, which is our goal, these initiatives help to not only make them feel welcome but make them feel really valued,” he said.
