Fans have been given a first look at Ryan Gosling as Ken in next year’s live-action Barbie movie.

Warner Bros. Pictures has shared a photo of the 41-year-old in character as Barbie’s boyfriend Ken — who will star alongside Aussie Margot Robbie as the famed doll — complete with bleached-blonde hair, double denim, washboard abs and even his own Ken branded underwear.

To say Gosling-obsessed fans were excited for this moment would be an understatement, but the image has been met with mixed responses.

Rolling Stone blasted the pic as “full cringe” while others have drawn comparisons to Ellen DeGeneres and Freddie Prinze Jr.

Eva Mendes - who has been with Gosling since 2011 and have two daughters together- is a fan though.

“So. F. Funny. So. F. Good. So F excited for you to see this,” she wrote on Instagram

News that everyone’s favourite heart-throb, aka Gosling, was attached was announced late last year.

In addition to Gosling and Robbie, Saturday Night Live’s Kate McKinnon, Ugly Betty’s America Ferrera, Marvel’s Simu Liu, and comedian Will Ferrell are all set to co-star.

The film is the latest project from Lady Bird and Little Women director Greta Gerwig with screenplay by Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story).

At this stage, plot details are under wraps but Gerwig previously told The Hollywood Reporter not to be fooled by all the pink, girlie themes.

“People immediately have an idea of, ‘oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is’, but our goal is to be like, ‘whatever you’re thinking, we’re going to give you something totally different — the thing you didn’t know you wanted’,” she said.

“If we can do all that and provoke a thoughtful conversation, then we’re really firing on all cylinders.”

The image of Australian sweetheart Robbie as the iconic Barbie doll was revealed in April.

During the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas earlier this year, Warner Bros. said the flick is slated for release in the US on July 21, 2023, with an Australian date yet to be announced.
