Hollywood A-Lister Kim Kardashian and her beau Pete Davidson have been spotted in Far North Queensland after temporarily relocating to Australia.
Key points:
- Hollywood celebrities Kim Kardashian and her partner Pete Davidson have been spotted in Cairns
- The pair is in town as Davidson gets set to film a comedy
- Cafe staff were asked to put phones on the counter as pair tucked into breakfast
The US-based couple popped into a Cairns cafe for breakfast on Wednesday as Davidson prepared to star in the feature-length comedy Wizards!, to be filmed in the area over several months.
Botanica Cafe Bar Kitchen manager Matt Black said Kardashian, Davidson and their sizeable entourage created quite the stir in the affluent, leafy-green suburb of Edge Hill.
"They sent their security detail in, and they had a little look at the menu, then asked if we had room for a couple of private guests, who are hoping to take over the inside," Mr Black said.
"There was just me and my barista, and to be honest, he didn't know who they were, he's really out of the loop with that sort of stuff.
"I took them through, asked them what they were doing, they were very chilled out, super cool and respectful."
He said staff had to be discreet.
"We had to put our phones out on the counter," he said.
He said minders also asked if the cafe had security footage and made sure it was private.
"But it was a casual process," he said.
Mr Black said the couple's "people" saw an article in a Qantas magazine that claimed his joint has one of the best breakfasts in Cairns, but he was unwilling to divulge exactly what the pair had eaten.
The couple have also been posting pictures of their time on an exclusive tropical island in the region.
Bedarra Island would not confirm whether or not the high-profile guests were staying there.
Actor Orlando Bloom and singer Katy Perry have also touched down in Far North Queensland, with Bloom set to join Davidson on the Wizards! set.
Davidson's new flick is being produced by Brad Pitt's company Plan B Entertainment and the screenplay was written by David Michôd who also wrote Animal Kingdom.
The movie features two beach-bar operators, played by Davidson and German actor Franz Rogowski, who run into trouble when they come across stolen loot.
The production received $3.6 million in funding from the Australian Government's Location Incentive Program as well as an additional $1.183 million from the Queensland Government.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the production would inject $14.7 million into the economy and create around 100 jobs for cast and crew, and places for 300 extras.
