The Ekka is just 30 days away but the much-anticipated showbag guide has already dropped.

Keen-eyed fans of Brisbane's annual agricultural show have already spotted an increase in the price of the event's cheap and popular bag.

The Bertie Beetle bag, which previously cost $2 for six Bertie Beetle chocolates and three Red Ripperz, will now command two gold coins at $3 a pop.

Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA) chief executive Brendan Christou said with more than 400 showbags to choose from, anyone disappointed with the price rise could find something else to enjoy.

"There's the $2 Rainbow Smash bag, there are 40 showbags under $5 and 100 for under $10. So there are plenty to fit the budget," he said.

"The most expensive is $125. That is a Lindt Chocolate bag and there is a lot of chocolate in it so if you like Lindt chocolate you'll love that.

"There's certainly a huge range this year."

Mr Christou said the Brisbane Ekka's showbag offerings had come a long way since the bag of coal that was handed out in 1876, and he said showbags remained "Very popular still".

Accessible for families 'on a budget'

Construction on the RNA grounds of the showbag pavilions, and others, are underway now.

A 30-per-cent-off sale will offer the "best-priced tickets" to the Ekka before the show opens its gates next month," Mr Christou says.

He said a family of four could purchase entry for less than $50.

The RNA boss also said organisers were "watching like everyone else" to monitor the latest COVID wave.

Mr Christou remains confident however that, with its majority outdoor attractions, the Ekka will be a safe place to visit.

The Ekka runs from August 6-14 this year.
