Four people, including three police officers, have been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Mermaid Waters.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews used hydraulic equipment to cut two of the officers free from the paddy wagon, after it collided with a four-wheel drive and flipped at the corner of Bermuda and Markeri streets around 9:30 this morning.

The police car was responding to an emergency incident at the time.

The three police officers and the man in the second vehicle have been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in stable conditions.

Two of the men, aged in their 30s, had back injuries, another man in his 30s had back and knee injuries, while a man in his 40s had shoulder and chest injuries.

More to come.
