Logan detectives are investigating two separate shootings in the region, including a daylight incident in which a woman was shot in the face.

At about 3:30pm on Saturday afternoon, police said a car drove into Bix Court in Crestmead, before a man got out and started arguing with another man in the front yard of a home.

Police said he raised a gun and fired one shot at the resident, but it missed and struck a 58-year-old woman standing nearby.

She suffered facial injuries and remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In a later incident, a car entered Cowper Avenue in Eagleby at about 9pm and a shot was fired from inside as it passed a house, striking a man in the front yard.

The victim was also treated for facial injuries and transported to hospital in a non-life-threatening condition.

The two incidents are separate, police have confirmed.

The victim of the Eagleby shooting has been identified as Geoffrey Menz, by his mother Lorraine Castner, who said her son told her he had been shot in the jaw last night.

"There were some individuals in a car outside his property and when he went out to find out what was going on, he was shot," she said.

"It is not something you expect to hear."

Ms Castner said her son told her the individuals "took off", and he went next door looking for help.

"The lady there was kind enough to assess where he had been shot, which was in the jaw, and call an ambulance," she said.

Ms Castner said her son will be in hospital for the next few days.

"Pellets could be still in his jaw, and he's got some powder burns on his chest," she said.

She said it was unclear who shot her son.
