Detectives have charged a 34-year-old woman over the alleged theft of botox worth more than $50,000 in Busselton, Western Australia.
Key points:
- A large amount of drugs, including botox, were stolen from a cosmetic clinic earlier this month
- Police have charged a woman with stealing and burglary
- The charges come after repeated appeals to the public for information
Police raised the alarm after someone broke into a cosmetic clinic in the CBD on November 6.
It was reported a large quantity of schedule 4 drugs had been stolen, including botox.
Botox is used to temporarily paralyse muscles and is commonly used for cosmetic purposes to reduce the look of wrinkles.
It is not yet known if the drugs have been recovered.
Weeks-long search
The arrest comes after an appeal for help from the public just over a fortnight ago.
On November 10, officers released images and CCTV footage of a woman they believed could help with their inquiries.
A police spokeswoman said it would be alleged that the woman had broken into the clinic through the window.
"It will be alleged about 12:45pm, the woman forced entry to the clinic via a side window and entered a medical treatment room," the spokeswoman said.
"It will also be alleged the woman stole numerous schedule 4 drugs including botox from the clinic — valued at approximately $50,000."
Police did not disclose how they obtained the information that led to the woman being charged, but thanked the community for their help.
"Detectives wish to thank members of the public for their continued assistance at providing information to Crime Stoppers, which assists with investigations," the police spokeswoman said.
The 34-year-old woman, from West Busselton, has been charged with burglary and stealing.
She is due to appear before the Busselton Magistrates Court on December 13.
