With tonight's final being during the night session, Novak Djokovic will have played all seven of his matches out of Melbourne's searing heat.
Djokovic has played his best tennis in Australia during the night session throughout his career, with both of his most recent losses at Melbourne Park coming during the day.
The 35-year-old comes into tonight's final on a 27-match winning streak at the Australian Open, with his last loss coming in the fourth round of the 2018 edition of the tournament when he was stunned by unseeded Korean Chung Hyeon.
Tennis columnist Catherine Whittaker believes Djokovic might be the first player to have played all seven matches in the evening session, calling the schuedling " a bit extreme".
"Doesn't there reach a stage of the tournament where sporting integrity steps in?" she told The Tennis Podcast.
"Both his last two losses (at the Australian Open) came in day sessions … I still think he'd be in the final if he'd played every match in the day session, I'm just saying it makes a difference. It's not nothing."
When asked if Djokovic's scheduling advantage is fair, English tennis journalist David Law said on the podcast: "Maybe not. That's just the way it's always been one way or another.
"I think they have gone out of their way to make him feel comfortable."
