South Sydney Rabbitohs player Latrell Mitchell and Canberra Raiders' Jack Wighton have been arrested in Canberra in the early hours of Sunday morning after a fight broke out between the pair at a nightclub.

ACT police were called to a Bunda Street address just before 4am after reports of a disturbance.

Both Wighton and Mitchell have been charged with fighting in a public place, as well as several other offences.

They were reportedly out celebrating Wighton's 30th birthday before returning to NRL All Stars camp in Sydney, and are alleged to have been wrestling with each other in Canberra's CBD.

"About 3.45am today, ACT Policing responded to reports of a disturbance near a nightclub on Bunda Street in the city," a police statement given to Fairfax said.

"Two men — a 30-year-old from Bywong, NSW, and a 25-year-old man from Chifley, NSW — were arrested at the scene.

"The 30-year-old has been charged with fight in a public place and fail to comply with an exclusion direction, while the 25-year-old has been charged with fight in a public place, affray, and resist territory public official. They are expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date."

The Rabbitohs, the Raiders, and the NRL have all released statements, with the latter confirming that the report has been sent to the NRL Integrity Unit.
