Wests Tigers assistant Robbie Farah has dismissed suggestions Tim Sheens and Benji Marshall are butting heads in the coach’s box and revealed his role in recruiting captain Api Koroisau to the club.

Tigers great Farah has returned to the joint venture alongside Sheens and Marshall as part of a two-year succession plan for the Kiwi legend to take over as head coach in 2025, stepping out as coaching trio for the first time at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday against the Gold Coast.

Farah was honoured before kick-off at The Sackville Hotel in Rozelle with a 14-metre-high painted by local artist Sid Tapia, mirroring the painting dedicated to Marshall in the streets of Leichhardt when he first returned to the Tigers in 2018.

The former NSW Origin hooker said he and Marshall have been given more responsibility than most assistants given the latter will only have two years coaching experience before taking charge from Sheens, and didn’t mince words when asked about reports the pair aren’t seeing eye-to-eye on certain aspects of coaching.

“Nonsense. Complete nonsense,” Farah said of the suggestions.

“Myself, Benji, Tim, Chris Heighington and the other staff, it’s a really good working environment, really enjoyable, there’s definitely no issues or anything like that.

“Unfortunately a rumour can get carried away or catch fire, but Tim’s giving us a fair bit of the reins because it’s a different role for him. He’s there as a mentor to help myself and Benji learn and develop as coaches before Benji takes over in 2025.

“We’ve all got very similar philosophies on what a Tigers brand of football looks like and there’s a really good vibe at the moment.
