A Matt Burton field goal has given Canterbury a dramatic 15-14 golden-point win over North Queensland at Stadium Australia.

In the earlier match on Sunday, the Warriors celebrated a remarkable 32-30 comeback victory over Cronulla.

Burton's kicking game and a line break from Josh Addo-Carr put the Bulldogs in position to take one shot at field goal before the first period of extra time expired on Sunday night.

Burton needed only one chance, clinching the result from just outside 30 metres and helping the Bulldogs celebrate Josh Reynolds's homecoming in style.

The Cowboys maintained a slim lead for most of the match and enjoyed the better of first-half chances.

When fill-in fullback Tom Chester crashed over in the 59th minute, the Cowboys' 14-6 lead looked as though it could have been a match-winning advantage, given the tight nature of the contest and the greasy conditions.

On their way back into the match, the Bulldogs needed to overcome injuries to Raymond Faitala-Mariner (concussion), Franklin Pele (arm) and Max King (eye).

Rookie Jacob Preston had the best night of his young career and finished with two tries, the second of which was scored after he had the webbing of his hand stitched up.

But it was not until Addo-Carr sailed over on the left in the final 45 seconds that the Bulldogs were able to level the scores, having remained on the attack for the final 10 minutes.

Burton's conversion attempt struck the upright and the match went to extra time.

Fan favourite Reynolds entered the match in the 54th minute for his first appearance for the Bulldogs since leaving to join the Wests Tigers for the 2018 season.

His role in the middle was a far-cry from the five-eighth spot for which he is best remembered by Bulldogs fans, but he brought much-needed energy when the chips were down and finished with 19 tackles.

Jayden Okunbor can expect scrutiny from the match review committee for a hip-drop tackle on Jason Taumalolo that sent the Bulldogs utility to the sin-bin in the first half, while teammate Faitala-Mariner failed his head injury assessment and is set to miss round six.

Taumalolo managed to finish the match despite initially appearing to have hurt his ankle in Okunbor's tackle.

Pele will go for scans after suffering a suspected forearm fracture in the second half.

Shaun Johnson has come back to haunt Cronulla, kicking a penalty goal with 90 seconds left to seal a gutsy win for the Warriors at a rain-soaked Shark Park.

The Warriors trailed for the near entirety of the match until they were awarded a penalty for a push on Josh Curran as he attempted to catch a loose ball he had hacked ahead.

Johnson, who spent three years at Cronulla before returning to the Warriors in 2022, added the penalty from 40 metres out to put his side in front but more drama was to come.

The Sharks, who were without captain Dale Finucane due to a sin-bin for a hip-drop tackle in the final 10 minutes, kicked off with the clock ticking down.

Johnson was penalised for an offside on that kick-off and Nicho Hynes was tasked with drawing the Sharks level from the sideline after the full-time siren had gone.

Hynes's kick did not have the legs and the Warriors celebrated wildly as they registered their fourth win of the season.

They had no right to catch the Sharks after Craig Fitzgibbon's side went 20 points ahead after as many minutes, with a Hynes penalty and tries from Teig Wilton, Ronaldo Mulitalo and Sione Katoa.

A scrappy try from Wayde Egan got the Warriors rolling and Marata Niukore doubled their tally when he barged over the top of Matt Moylan.

Will Kennedy breezed in for Cronulla and any hope of a Warriors comeback looked to have been extinguished when Niukore was sin-binned for a hip-drop tackle on Siosifa Talakai on the stroke of half-time.

Down a man and away from home, old Warriors sides might have crumbled.

But Andrew Webster's team seem to be made of sterner stuff and by the time Niukore came back on, Johnson and Edward Kosi had got them back to within two points of the Sharks.

A dropped ball from Warriors fullback Chanrze Nicoll-Klokstad led to Mulitalo adding his second try of the afternoon but with Hynes unable to convert the Sharks had a buffer of just six points with 20 minutes remaining.

A cavalier line from Curran cut the deficit and Johnson converted to tie the match up with 13 minutes left.

A torrential downpour ensued and the match took a further turn when Finucane was sin-binned for his tackle on Nicoll-Klokstad.

With less than 90 seconds left the Sharks chanced their arm and when the ball went to ground, Curran hacked it ahead.

As he gave chase, the forward was pushed in the back by Sharks prop Royce Hunt and referee Ben Cummins awarded the Warriors a penalty.
