The round of 16 is done and we now know who the Matildas will play in their next match.
Meanwhile, a South American fairytale continued as a Caribbean one ended.
Here are five things from the final round-of-16 games at the Women's World Cup.
1. Matildas to face France in the quarterfinals
The Matildas and Les Bleues have never met on football's biggest stage, but if the words "World Cup" and "France" send shivers down your spine, it could have something to do with Australia's disappointing performance in the country four years ago.
Now, if Australia is to advance past the quarterfinals at the World Cup for the first time, on home soil no less, they will need to exorcise some French demons at Brisbane's Lang Park on Saturday evening.
The Matildas beat France 1-0 in their final warm-up match a week before the tournament, but it wasn't particularly convincing and the French have only gotten better as this tournament has worn on.
Starting with a 0-0 draw against Jamaica, they then beat Brazil 2-1 and hammered Panama 6-3 to top Group F, before taking down Morocco 4-0.
That's 12 goals scored in their past three games, with the attack truly humming.
The Matildas' backline of Steph Catley, Ellie Carpenter, Clare Hunt and Alanna Kennedy, along with goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold conceded three goals against Nigeria in the group stage and will have a much tougher time against France's firing forwards.
2. French connections
Before the clash with Morocco, France coach Hervé Renard said he has "amazing memories [and] amazing friends in Morocco" from his time coaching the men's team.
Renard took Morocco's men to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
On the other side, Morocco coach Reynald Pedros was capped 256 times by the French men's side and coached Lyon to national and European titles between 2017 and 2019.
Sakina Karchaoui assisted for France's first goal. She has Moroccan parents, and there are numerous other links between the two nations, as well as other North African countries like Algeria and Tunisia.
But Renard said even when you're playing against friends, you want to win. And he and France certainly made good on that promise.
3. Jamaica's Reggae Girlz gain global fandom
Cedella Marley may be best known as reggae royalty, but she's also famous for her love of the Jamaican women's football team, which she helped save with a public fundraising campaign almost 10 years ago.
In fact, in the pre-match press conference, coach Lorne Donaldson went so far as to say that without Cedella, Jamaica wouldn't have a women's football team at all.
After Jamaica progressed to the knockout stages of this tournament, Marley gave an emotional interview on how far the Reggae Girlz had come.
"Just to hear the whistle, the tears could not stop flowing," she said.
"They were tears of joy, but also exhaustion.
"Women's football is still not widely accepted in Jamaica … but the rest of the world has caught up.
"Jamaica will catch up eventually on the girls who are representing them. When that happens, I'm not sure, but at least they've made a dent."
Surely that dent has only deepened after the team's best showing at a Women's World Cup, at a tournament they remarkably had to crowdfund to reach in the first place.
Before their 1-0 loss to Colombia, the Reggae Girlz had not conceded a goal, with three consecutive clean sheets in the group stages. It has been a remarkable turnaround for a team long criticised for its defensive deficiencies.
4. Colombian teenagers steal the show in front of boisterous 'home' crowd
Naarm/Melbourne may have hosted its last Women's World Cup game, but it went out with a bang, thanks to a boisterous crowd of mostly Colombian supporters.
They booed and jeered at the Reggae Girlz, and roared whenever Las Chicas Superpoderosas (The Powerpuff Girls) got anywhere near the ball. But their loudest cheers were saved for 18-year-old prodigy Linda Caicedo, one of the best young footballers in the world, who showed flashes of her renowned brilliance.
She wasn't the only teenager to impress for the South American nation, however, with 18-year-old Ana Maria Guzman not only making her debut, but playing a critical part in the team's victory.
Guzman, who was selected thanks to the suspension of fullback Manuela Vanegas, delivered the excellent lofted pass that set up captain Catalina Usme's decisive goal.
Both Guzman and Caicedo represented Colombia in the Under-17 and Under-20 World Cups last year, and will form a formidable pairing in the senior side for many years to come.
5. All class in the quarters
So, there are eight teams left in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, and you could not point to any teams who are lucky to be there.
Seven of the eight teams topped their groups, Spain the only exception, although they proved their mettle with a 5-1 demolition of Switzerland in the round of 16.
We also have a relatively diverse bunch, with Japan, Colombia and Australia accompanying five European sides.
In 2019, seven of the last eight were European, with eventual winners USA the only standouts.
And speaking of the USWNT, their departure in the round of 16 (along with Norway's) means 2011 champions Japan are the only former Women's World Cup winners left in the draw.
We are guaranteed a first-time finalist and potentially a maiden win for someone.
