France and Chelsea defender Ève Périsset is set to mark Matildas star Caitlin Foord in Saturday's Women's World Cup quarterfinal, while giving her teammates tips on how to handle Sam Kerr.

Foord has been in sensational form at the World Cup, especially since moving from a central striker role out to the left.

Her understanding with full-back Steph Catley has blossomed, highlighted by her great goal in the 2-0 win over Denmark in the round of 16.

Périsset, who has marked the Arsenal forward in their Women's Super League clashes, will take that challenge head-on when France plays the Matildas in Brisbane/Meanjin.

"She's (Foord) a very, very good player," Périsset told reporters through a translator.

"It's true that I play against her with Chelsea. She's very strong in one-one-one, in the duel.

"So I will try to avoid … [giving her] some spaces. I will try to defend well, I know that it will be — it can be — difficult but I will do my best to do that because she is a good player. She is very fast.

"We're going analyse their (Foord and Catley's) qualities, their understanding and then we will see what the coach wants to do to try to avoid too much success between the two of them."

But at some point Périsset, who was left on the bench for the July 14 friendly against Australia, will have to face another threat: Chelsea colleague Kerr.

The Maltidas captain returned from injury off the bench against Denmark and appears poised for more minutes against France.

Périsset is aware of how 'Kerr-mania' has captured Australia and has no plans of letting it go to another level.
