Australia's blockbuster Women's World Cup quarterfinal will be streamed live at the MCG ahead of the Carlton-Melbourne AFL match.
- The World Cup match will be streamed until the end of regulation time
- The Blues-Demons clash is scheduled to begin at 7:30pm AEST
- Around 70,000 spectators are expected to attend the MCG
The match between the Matildas and France kicks off at 5pm AEST in Brisbane/Meaanjin and it will be shown on the big screens at the MCG, but only until the end of regulation time.
The Blues' clash with the Demons at the MCG had already been pushed back five minutes to start at 7:30pm AEST.
The decision to stream the World Cup match to spectators at the MCG follows lengthy negotiations involving football's governing body FIFA.
It is estimated around 70,000 spectators will attend the MCG.
"We approached all relevant parties with the idea earlier this week, and we thank them for their cooperation," Carlton chief executive Brian Cook said in a statement.
"It is terrific we have been able to get this over the line.
"Carlton members and supporters will be there in full voice as we take on the Demons at our home game tonight, so to give fans coming to the game the chance to arrive early and support the Matildas, it just makes sense and is the right thing to do."
The MCG gates will open an hour earlier at 4:30pm AEST.
The SCG will also show the World Cup match on its big screen following Saturday afternoon's AFL encounter between the Sydney Swans and Gold Coast Suns, which commences at 1:45pm AEST.
