“We would love an invitation because we would love to bring her up to Sydney for that race,” he said.

Parker doubles up in the King Charles III Stakes

Kembla Grange trainer Kerry Parker has decided to keep Hope In Your Heart in Sydney, where she will join Think It Over in the King Charles III Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

Hope In Your Heart will be one of a number of Epsom runners fighting for the $1 million mile bonus. Rediener, Kovalica and Golden Mile are on that list.

“She is looking to get out in trip now and we thought she could have a crack at a weight-for-age group 1 before the Five Diamonds,” Parker said. “She is certainly up to this grade and if she gets the right run she could cause a surprise.”

Think It Over has recovered from a barrier trial ordeal where he showed a poor recovery after chasing the Everest horses, including Overpass, at Rosehill on Tuesday.

“He wasn’t there to do a lot, but the warm morning got to him a bit. He was struck in traffic in the float and arrived late and just felt it a bit,” Parker said.

“We got him home and checked him out and he was fine. He did a wonderful piece of work here [on Saturday] morning and he will be there on Saturday.”

Think It Over showed he is still among the best horses in the country by winning the 7 Stakes at his last appearance.

Amelia’s Jewel firms for a Golden Eagle start

The indications are getting stronger that Amelia’s Jewel will be at Rosehill for the Golden Eagle on November 4 after owner Peter Walsh registered his charity with Racing NSW for the $10 million contest.

Amelia’s Jewel will start favourite in the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday. After that, trainer Simon Miller and Walsh will make a final decision between the Cox Plate and Golden Eagle.

Each Golden Eagle runner has to nominate a charity to which 10 per cent of the prizemoney is donated.

The Golden Eagle is shaping as a melting pot of world racing with Japanese contender Obamburumai having arrived at the Canterbury quarantine centre on Saturday to join English contenders Galeron, New Endeavour and Age Of Kings.

New Zealand 1000 Guineas and Australian Guineas winner Legarto raced her way to second favouritism from the Golden Eagle by winning the Matamata Cup on Saturday.

“We’ve got a month now between this race and the Golden Eagle, so we’ll probably give her an exhibition gallop or a trial or something in between,” co-trainer Ken Kelso said.

“We’re pretty well on track again now.”

Michael Dee has been booked to ride Legarto in the Golden Eagle.

Roman Consul winner King’s Gambit heads to the Coolmore

King’s Gambit added his name to the group 2 honour roll of the Roman Consul Stakes on Saturday and look for his group 1 in next month’s Coolmore Stud Stakes.

It has always been that you need to go to Melbourne to prove your group 1 credentials in the spring, but in terms of producing stallions, the Roman Consul more than matches the Coolmore.

Exceed And Excel and Fastnet Rock gave the group 2 a 316-306 edge in terms of stake winners produced by winners of the two races.

King’s Gambit will attempt to emulate Zoustar by completing the double at Flemington.

“He is still raw and learning,” Peter Snowden said. “He needs racing to get to the level we know he can. You can see the talent, but it is just a case of getting in the fast-run race where he can show it.”
