Outgoing Essendon list and recruiting general manager Adrian Dodoro has predicted “it won’t be long” until the Bombers are a strong side again.

Coach Brad Scott’s first season built confidence among Bombers fans until a late-season fadeout left them out of finals contention again.

But Dodoro remained confident that recent draft pics Zach Reid, Nik Cox, Archie Perkins, Harrison Jones, Sam Durham and Ben Hobbs would take big strides.

“I’m looking forward to getting some really exciting outcomes for the club and, you know, I think we’re in a really, really strong position,” Dodoro told AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday.

“There’s a lot of growth in this group. I look at guys like Reid, Perkins, Cox, Jones, Durham and Hobbs – they are all young players.

“I think that we’re in a good position going forward and if we can get some players in our [desired] demographics then it think it won’t be long before we become a really respectable team again.”

Dodoro will eventually be replaced by Matt Rosa but he has yet to lock in an exit date as he wants to serve the club this trade period before his exit.
