Australian women's cricket star Alyssa Healy has undergone surgery on her hand after suffering an injury during a "domestic accident at home".

Healy was a late withdrawal from the Sydney Sixers' WBBL match against the Sydney Thunder on Sunday night.

The team confirmed the 33-year-old went in for surgery on Sunday after an accident at home on Saturday night.

"No further details of the accident or injury are clear at this time, with further details to be communicated in due course," a Sixers statement read.

"She has not been replaced on the Sixers' roster."

In an Instagram post, Healy was pictured with a big bandage on her hand.

"Appreciate all the love. Am at home watching the girls get it done. @sixersbbl," she posted.

Healy has captained the all-conquering Australian women's side during the extended absence of full-time skipper Meg Lanning, most recently in an ODI and T20 series against the West Indies.

Last month, Healy agreed a contract extension to keep her in the WBBL with the Sixers until the end of 2025-26.

The Sixers' next match is against Brisbane Heat North Sydney Oval on Tuesday night.
