Grace Harris has produced a record-breaking innings for the Brisbane Heat, scoring an unbeaten 136 off 59 balls in her side's WBBL win over the Perth Scorchers.

A day after the Melbourne Stars were dismissed for 29 — the lowest total in the competition's history — the Heat set Perth a challenging target of 230 at North Sydney Oval.

The Scorchers in reply managed 8-179 off their 20 overs to lose by 50 runs.

The Brisbane innings was dominated by Harris, who smashed the existing record individual innings with her brilliant knock.

Smriti Mandhana scored an unbeaten 114 off 64 balls for the Sydney Thunder against the Melbourne Renegades in Mackay in November 2021.

Harris carried her bat and was too powerful for the Scorchers attack.

The right-hander crushed 12 fours and 11 sixes as the crowd was treated to a brilliant batting display.

In the middle of the record innings, Harris's hitting proved too powerful, as her bat shattered while attempting a big hit to long-on. The ball still went for six.

Changing bats didn't stop her, either.

Harris reached her 50 in the eighth over off just 24 balls, driving the Heat at close to 10 an over.

She launched in the 14th over off the bowling of Piepa Cleary, hitting 17 runs including consecutive sixes followed by a four.

Harris got to her century in the 17th over with a boundary, reaching the ton in 48 balls.

Aside from Harris, only Mignon du Preez (39), Bess Heath (16) and Georgia Redmayne (15) reached double figures for Brisbane.

Perth required 11.5 an over in the chase, and the Scorchers had a fast start thanks to Beth Mooney.

The opening partnership made 63 in less than six overs, before Courtney Sippel dismissed Lauren Winfield-Hill for 14.

Sippel then ripped through the Perth line-up, taking three wickets in four balls in the 10th over, dismissing skipper Sophie Devine (14), Maddie Darke (0) and Mooney (60 off 30) to reduce the Scorchers to 4-100.

Sippel finished with figures of 4-27 off her four overs.

Amy Jones helped out with 30 off 17 balls in the middle order, but the Scorchers were always up against it, and they fell well short of the target.
