Matildas midfielder Katrina Gorry is relishing the challenge of joining the Women's Super League (WSL) after signing West Ham United.
- Gorry will join Matildas teammate Mackenzie Arnold at West Ham
- She describes West Ham as a "family club"
- West Ham sits at the bottom of the WSL standings alongside Bristol City
It will be the seventh country in which Gorry has played at the club level.
She will link up with Matildas World Cup teammate Mackenzie Arnold at West Ham.
Gorry said West Ham had welcomed her and two-year-old daughter Harper with open arms.
"The club spoke my language," Gorry told West Ham TV.
"West Ham is a family club and that was a big factor for me wanting to join. I've felt the support from everyone straight away and there is no better place for me to be right now.
"The Women's Super League is the league everyone is speaking about at the moment.
"I want to challenge myself and play against and with the best players in the world.
"I will work hard, try to control the game and do whatever I can to help the team both on and off the pitch.
"I am very proud and grateful to be here and really excited by what's ahead."
Arnold, a friend of Gorry's since their Brisbane Roar days, was a key factor in getting the 31-year-old to the club.
"There were a few questions I asked Macca and a couple of others that had been at the club before, and they all spoke highly," Gorry said.
"You can see with Macca how much her game has progressed over the last couple of years here.
"I think that shows what this club can do for players."
The 105-times capped Gorry joins West Ham as it lies joint bottom of the WSL standings, having picked up only five points in 10 matches this season.
Alongside Bristol City, West Ham is three points adrift of safety from relegation, with two clubs to go down at the end of the season.
Gorry's signing came the same week Matildas teammate Charli Grant joined another London club, Tottenham Hotspur.
