Scotty James has matched snowboarding legend Shaun White in winning a third-straight X-Games gold medal.
The two-time Olympic medallist won his sixth career X-Games gold medal at the invitation-only event in Aspen, Colorado.
"Thankyou Aspen, absolutely amazing event, it was so great to ride in front of everyone tonight," James said.
James, who won his second FIS World Cup halfpipe event of the season last week in Laax — heading a historic 1-2 with fellow Aussie Val Guseli, said he was enjoying his snowboarding again.
"I am really stoked, and I just feel like a little kid again riding, and that's showing though which has been really fun, and I am enjoying snowboarding so much," he said.
"To join that record with Shaun is pretty nice."
James led the field from start to finish, scoring 88 points in the first of his three runs.
The 29-year-old added a switch-back-1260 on the final hit of his second run to boost his score to 93 points.
With no rider able to match James's score, he was able to complete a victory lap in the third and final run.
Joining James on the podium were Japanese Olympic finalists from Beijing 2022, Ruka and Kaishu Hirano, who finished with 87 and 86.33 points respectively.
James continues his extraordinary record in the SuperPipe at the X-Games with a sixth SuperPipe gold medal.
He has won a medal at every Games since 2016, and has nine career medals in total.
Guseli, who won his first X-Games medal in the SuperPipe event last year, behind James, was unable to compete due to injury.
White, a three-time Winter Olympic gold medallist, retired from competitive snowboarding after finishing fourth at the 2022 Games in Beijing.
The American won 13 X-Games gold medals in snowboarding, plus two in skateboarding.
