Australian teenage sprinter Torrie Lewis says she is riding a wave of confidence after breaking the national 100 metres record.
Lewis set the national mark when she ran 11.10 seconds at the ACT Championships in Canberra last Saturday night.
She sliced 0.01 off Melissa Breen's record, which was run on the same track in 2014.
The 19-year-old also broke three-time Olympic silver medallist Raelene Boyle's national under 20 record of 11.20, which had stood since 1968.
Lewis said she was shocked to set the open record so early in her career.
"It was just unbelievable to me that I had run the open record, when it wasn't even in my brain to try and run that this year," Lewis told ABC Sport.
"It's given me so much more confidence going forward because I know I can do it now."
Breen and national 200m record holder Melinda Gainsford-Taylor were both in Canberra to congratulate Lewis during the ACT Championships.
"They had really nice words of encouragement for me … they were so nice about it," Lewis said.

Lewis's national record was 0.03 shy of the Paris Olympics qualifying time, but she will have the chance to dip under the mark during the remainder of the domestic season.
She will contest the 100m at this month's Maurie Plant Meet in Melbourne, where she will face New Zealand's Zoe Hobbs, who ran a personal best of 10.96 last year.
Lewis made her world championships debut in the 100m in Budapest last year.
She is the reigning national champion in the 100m and 200m.
Lewis's PB for the 200m is 23.02, which she ran in winning last year's final at the national championships in Brisbane.
