The final batch of tickets for Taylor Swift’s Sydney shows sold out within two hours on Thursday, leaving some lucky fans elated.
Additional tickets for Swift’s concerts went on sale on Thursday afternoon, ahead of her fourth Australian performance at Accor Stadium on Friday night. Frontier Touring replied to a user’s post at 5.45pm indicating that all tickets were gone. However, as of 6.30pm, the Ticketek page was still allowing users to wait in the queue at this time.
Phoebe Marquardt, a 23-year-old Swiftie from Melbourne, was one of the fortunate fans. After trying to get tickets at every other pre-sale and sale since June, she managed to secure two for Swift’s Saturday show.
“My friend and I have been trying for literally months – every sale, Marketplace, everything. We couldn’t get anything for Melbourne, but we finally got through for Sydney today,” Marquardt said.
“I honestly couldn’t believe it. I just had to check my [Ticketek account] and check again. It’s very surreal, so exciting. I was shaking and absolutely over the moon.”

She believed the secret to her success was waiting in line at the physical Ticketek office instead of waiting online. Marquardt said she now has to work out an affordable way to get from Melbourne to Sydney in time for the show. Given how last-minute it was, flying seemed to be out of the question, especially given the major uptick in demand.
“I just posted in a Facebook group asking if anyone is driving to Sydney [on Friday]. I said I needed a lift and that I’d chip in for fuel,” she said. “It’s about a nine-hour drive, but we can just listen to Taylor’s music the whole way.”
Luckily, she has family in Sydney she can stay with, saving her accommodation costs.
