Australian Skye Nicolson issued a challenge to Puerto Rican boxer Amanda Serrano after the Gold Coaster became a world champion for the first time.
Nicolson put in a dominant performance on Sunday against Denmark's Sarah Mahfoud in Las Vegas, claiming the WBC featherweight title in a unanimous decision (100-90, 100-90, 99-91).
The 28-year-old is now a perfect 10-0 in her career and her sights are firmly set on Serrano.
Serrano, who was previously the unified featherweight champ, vacated the WBC belt in protest of the organisation's decision to limit women's title fights to 10 rounds.
Men go for 12 rounds in title fights.
"I respect the WBC's rules – that’s why I'm still boxing for the WBC belt," Nicolson said after her Vegas bout.
"But if the only way to fight Amanda Serrano is over 12 three-minute rounds, talk to my team. We'll make it happen.
"I know what I can do, and I want to keep proving that to the rest of the world."
