As the Panthers were celebrating a golden point victory, Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett said he did not believe regular season games should have extra time.

Meanwhile, Melbourne have continued their march towards a potential minor premiership while the Broncos snapped a six-game losing streak.

Here are the biggest talking points from every game of round 20.

1. Fogarty's foot proves a match-winner

The Raiders won just three of 10 games in the three months since halfback Jamal Fogarty tore his bicep, and his absence was constantly felt.

Teenager Ethan Strange was paired with fullback Kaeo Weekes in the halves for all but one of those games and the run-first approach had its moments, but the team clearly missed a steady hand on the wheel.

On Friday, Fogarty came back and wreaked havoc with his bombs, causing issues for the entire Warriors backline and the real match-winning efforts came off the tee.

Fogarty slotted all three of his conversion attempts from all over the park and added a penalty goal, while Chanel Harris-Tavita went 0/3 after stepping in for injured goal-kicker Adam Pompey, including the potential equaliser from just left of the posts.

With their halfback returning to the line-up and helping them snap a four-game losing streak, the Raiders climbed to 10th and have a chance to push for a spot in the finals.

2. Yes, Cook!

Last week, the Rabbitohs were handily beaten by the Dolphins despite both teams scoring the same number of tries.

On that day, Cody Walker and Taane Milne combined to kick 2/6, but when Davvy Moale crashed over in the 10th minute against the Tigers on Saturday, hooker Damien Cook was handed the tee.

He hooked that chance from just wide of the posts, before being shifted out to centre to cover the concussed Richie Kennar.

The move seemed to take the 200th-game player back to his early years as a utility — Cook last kicked in the NRL in 2016 when he went 7/8 — and he potted his next seven straight, including a sideline conversion just before half-time and a pivotal penalty goal just after the break.

It proved to not matter all that much as the Tigers conceded 40 points for the fourth straight week, but Cook can expect to get the goal-kicking duties again until Latrell Mitchell returns.

1. Charlie Staines (Tigers)

3. Brisbane are back … maybe?

So let's do the math — Brisbane is two wins back from eighth spot. In the weeks to come, they've got the Bulldogs at home, Titans on the Gold Coast, North Queensland in Townsville and a bye.

That's not the hardest run, but it's not the easiest either. It's a measure of Brisbane's quality that we're even talking about their finals prospects given this was their first win since mid-May, but when a team can run and gun like this it's a conversation worth having.

With most of their key playmakers back together, Brisbane looked a lot more like their usual selves in their win over the Knights. Adam Reynolds was clearly still hampered by his bicep injury, but he got the team around the park.

Reece Walsh made some errors, but also produced some jaw-dropping pieces of attacking craft. Payne Haas and Pat Carrigan, backing up from Origin, were both strong and young centre Deine Mariner was superb.

There are still so many points in this team, and the propulsive ambition that took them within minutes of a premiership last year still lurks within.

So many things can still happen for them if they're good enough, and they always have the talent to be good enough. What happens next still feels like anyone's guess.

2. Deine Mariner (Broncos)

1. Ezra Mam (Broncos)

4. The one issue gnawing at the Roosters

This time was supposed to be different. The Roosters's poor record against Melbourne and Penrith in recent years is well-known — they only have one win over the premiership's stand-out duo in the last four years.
