In short:
Oscar Piastri says the famous Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is his favourite, ahead of this weekend's Formula 1 Belgium Grand Prix.
Piastri claimed his maiden F1 win last weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix, ahead of teammate Lando Norris.
What's next?
The Belgium Grand Prix will be held on Sunday evening, beginning at 11pm AEST.
Oscar Piastri comes into this weekend's Formula 1 grand prix weekend in a new position — as a grand prix winner.
The Australian stood on the top step of the podium last weekend when he claimed the Hungarian Grand Prix, not before his teammate Lando Norris threatened to steal the victory from him.
The win was Piastri's first as an F1 driver in a full grand prix (he won the sprint in Qatar last year) and helped propel McLaren into contention for the constructors' world championship.
This weekend's Belgium Grand Prix, held at the famous Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, will be the last before the mid-year break.
Piastri has been in excellent form of late, only finishing outside the top five once in the past seven races.
He now attacks a track he says is his favourite, and a place he has enjoyed success at F1 level.
In his rookie year last season, Piastri finished second in the sprint race and out-qualified Norris, before being involved in a first-lap crash that ended his weekend prematurely.
But off the back of his maiden F1 grand prix win, Piastri is full of confidence as he looks to chase down those ahead of him in the drivers' championship.
"The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is my favourite track, so I'm excited to return to Belgium," he said.
Loading..."It's always tricky to predict what it will be like for us, but we're in a strong position and we look to come away with another good set of points.
"It's been a great first half of the season, so we'll take the momentum into this weekend and see what we can do."
Piastri is fifth in the drivers' championship with 11 race weekends left in the season.
The Australian is 116 points off championship leader Max Verstappen, but is just 40 points behind second-placed Norris.
A good result this weekend could move Piastri into third in the championship, as he sits just 13 points off Charles Leclerc (third) and five points behind Carlos Sainz (fourth).
McLaren is Red Bull's nearest challenger in the constructors' championship, trailing the defending champions by 51 points.
"After a very strong weekend in Hungary, we are already fully focused on the next challenge in Belgium," McLaren team principal Andrea Stella said.
"The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is a driver favourite but also the longest and one of the most challenging on the calendar. The changeable weather conditions add a level of uncertainty, but we take every challenge as an opportunity.
"As we come towards the end of a very busy period of racing, we push one final time and look to maximise our points-scoring opportunities before a well-deserved summer break."
The Belgium Grand Prix will be held on Sunday evening, beginning at 11pm AEST.
