If you've been watching field events in the Paris Games' athletics program, you may have noticed some mini cars zipping around the green.
They're officially called field support robots and play an integral role in events running smoothly.
Think of them as robotic ball kids— they're used for projectile retrieval in events like javelin, discus, shot put and hammer throw.
In less busy moments, they've also been spotted ferrying the Paris 2024 mascot.
The technology isn't anything new, though.
Olympic Games have used remote controlled cars for years, each with their own aesthetic.
In Tokyo, they resembled futuristic buses and London took a more patriotic approach, styling theirs after Mini Coopers.
