Lakeisha Patterson has added a Paralympic silver medal to her collection, being chased down on the final lap by Zsofia Konkoly of Hungary in the women's S9 400m freestyle final.

Patterson led the whole way, but the gold medallist from Tokyo was reeled in by the Hungarian who won by 0.36 seconds.

Patterson was the best starter, storming out to an early lead.

She finished the first 50 metres in front, and enjoyed a lead of more than a body length at the 100m.

Frenchwoman  Agathe Pauli in lane one, and Zsofia Konkoly of Hungary were in the podium places after 150 metres.

At halfway, Patterson's lead had narrowed as Konkoly stayed on her heels.

The Aussie, known as Lucky, entered the final 100 metres with a lead of 1.28 seconds, but Konkoly was making ground.

Konkoly had too much speed in the closing stages, passing Patterson with around 30 metres to swim and holding off the Aussie's late response.
