A man is in custody following a house fire in northwest Victoria, where a man’s body was found on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a house on Domaille Crescent in Swan Hill about 5.40pm after reports of a fire.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said officers searched the property after the fire was extinguished and found a man’s body.

“At this stage, the fire is being treated as suspicious and another man, who is believed to have been at the property at the time, has been taken into custody,” the statement said.

“The investigation is ongoing.”

A spokesperson from Country Fire Victoria confirmed 25 firefighters attended the scene and the blaze was under control by 6.05pm.
