Moreton Island is one of the world's largest and best looking sand islands. To get the most out of your next Moreton adventure, explore the island's beach highways and trails behind a 4x4.
From the Wrecks drop off point, if the tide is high, grab your snorkel gear or hire a kayak and explore the amazing life under the sea. As the tide goes out, jump in your 4WD and head up past Ben-Ewa and Bulwer towards Camboyuro Point on the west of the island. Take a break to get a sneak peak from the top of Five Hills.
Continue towards North Point via Yellow Patch. Make sure you have time to stick your toes in the white sands of Honeymoon Bay and then move on up to Cape Moreton lookout and the lighthouse for some special views. Keep an eye out for dolphins, turtles and dugongs and from June to October you might catch some humpback whales hanging out below!
There are loads of camping options on the west coast of Moreton around the Wrecks, Ben-Ewa and North Point and Blue Lagoon on the east coast.
Park your faithful 4x4 and explore the island on foot to see the sights of Mount Tempest in the middle of the island or get amongst it at the Desert Dunes for a taste of sand ... boarding!
