‘Rise of the Eco Warriors’ (http://www.vea.com.au/support/promotions/eco-warriors.html) follows fifteen young eco-warriors from nine countries who spend 100 days in the jungles of Borneo. Their mission is to search for and implement solutions to the rampant destruction of the forests that is ripping apart the local Dayak communities and destroying habitat of endangered orang-utans. The engaging film explores what it takes to be an eco-warrior and strive to step up and take action to avert global environmental catastrophes.
This film is an excellent resource for all students of environmental studies, global issues and sustainability, as well as history, ICT and media and comes with additional resources written by ATOM. The film is broken up into 3 x 35minute chapters and therefore is perfect for classroom use.
The film has been nominated as the best environment film at the 2014 Byron Bay Film Festival and a finalist in the Screen Producers Australia 2014 awards for feature documentary.
