In this video we examine camera movement – what each movement is called, and when best to use the different types of movement – and why we use them. Using the short film “Lucy” as a case study, we examine the use of the camera’s movement in telling the story visually. We will explore panning, tilting, zooming, tracking, steadicam/glidecam, cranes and handheld shots – the psychology of these movements (and the speed of each of them) in the storytelling process, and how and when to use them.
