The Bupa Health Foundation awarded a research grant aiming to decrease the number of hospitalisations and amputations by better managing foot ulcers in people with diabetes living in remote areas of Australia with information technology. Foot ulcers are a serious complication of diabetes, causing more than 80 per cent of lower limb amputations in people with diabetes. This research aims to provide greater access to specialist wound care, and reduce hospitalisations and amputations for people with diabetes.
