Police say a man is lucky to be alive after his car was struck by a truck and pushed five kilometres.
The truck was changing lanes on the Western Ring Road at Fawkner when the Mitsubishi Lancer became wedged onto its grill.
The terrifying journey took both vehicles onto the Hume Freeway, before the car's driver raised the alarm by waving an orange piece of tubing.
The truck driver was given an infringement noticed for changing lanes while it was unsafe.
