Created in 'The Year of the Outback' (2002) and remains one of the most authentic Outback tourism experiences on offer throughout Australia.
With wide-open rolling plains, natural lakes, historical Aboriginal sites and a sky that stretches from one horizon to the other - spectacular by day and glowing with stars by night. A land with some of the oldest geology on the planet; it's a vast, uncompromising land that turns everyday battlers into heroes and legends. To visit here is to experience the vastness of Queensland Outback. The Harry Redford Cattle Drive journey re-traces that taken by the infamous cattle rustler Harry Redford aka 'Captain Starlight' in the 1800's. Redford is also credited as being the inspiration behind Rolf Boldrewood's book, "Robbery Under Arms". It covers 200 km of the most distinctive terrain in the country and you can be right there in the saddle discovering the secrets of horsemanship and droving knowledge passed on from generation to generation. Witness the spectacular sunrises and sunsets, join in with the campfire yarn and celebrate with the Aramac and Muttaburra communities at their weekend festivities. Every night you will camp under the stars, where you will experience Australian camp oven cooking and a wonderful social atmosphere. Experienced riders, weekend riders and people who have never ridden are welcome. This is a journey that anyone can undertake; all you need is the spirit of adventure. Based in the Aramac community, each night 'locals' (who might live up to 2 hours drive away) will travel in to meet the 'new recruits' and share stories, play music and eat great food under the stars.
