Victoria's Matthew Ross and Lucas Hamilton won the under 19 Madison gold medal.
"We were hoping for a medal but to get a gold is really good and we're really happy," said Ross. The Victorians finished on 19 points, ahead of Western Australia's Sam Welsford and Matthew Jackson (16 points) who were hampered by two falls by Jackson during the 120 lap race. Alex Rendell and Reece Tucknott (WA/10 points) took the bronze.
"It's amazing really, I haven't had a gold medal on the track before," Ross added. "This is our first Madison together and we didn't actually train as my original partner had a crash earlier on in the points score so he couldn't race. So as a last decision we decided we would be partners and I'm pretty happy with how we raced.
