Queenslander Georgia Godwin has won her first Commonwealth Games gold medal and her second in as many days, in a stunning performance in the all-round rhythmic gymnastics women’s final at Arena Birmingham.

The dynamic 24-year-old led the field going into the fourth and final rotation, scoring 12.950 on the floor to the soundtrack of the Nina Simone classic Feeling Good.

It was the only event where she didn’t qualify for the individual final, but she did just enough to hang on.

Godwin was helped by two dramatic falls from competition favourites, England duo Alice Kinsella and Ondine Achampong, who both stumbled on the beam.

Having scored 13.300 on the vault, Godwin improved on the uneven bars with a 13.550 before the improvement continued with a 13.750 on the beam.

She finished with 53.550, ahead of Achampong (53.000) and Canada’s Emma Spence (52.350).

Godwin, who won three medals on the Gold Coast and silver in the team’s even on Saturday night, has also qualified for the vault, uneven bars and beam.
