The Australian sharemarket closed largely flat on Wednesday afternoon, reversing a rise earlier in the day, as investors await the latest rate decision from the US Federal Reserve.

National Australia Bank chief executive Andrew Irvine says the nation’s economy is in “reasonable shape” and he’s optimistic about trading conditions in 2025 as interest rates decline. 

Another senior executive is exiting the media company, with head of sales Michael Stephenson moving on.
