LISA Curry’s frustration that she has yet to divorce Grant Kenny and cannot immediately get married is not shared by her finance Mark Tabone.
The three-time Olympian was highly emotional and at times burst into tears during Monday’s night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! and even talked of quitting the Network Ten series.
With tears streaming down her face, Curry opened up to Natalie Bassingthwaighte about a few private issues including the fact she was still legally tied to ex-Olympian Kenny.
They were married in 1986 and reportedly split in mid-2009.
“I’ve got to find a dress; I’ve got to get a date; I’ve got to get a f***ing divorce,” Curry told singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte.
However, Tabone told The Courier-Mail that it was a minor issue, which they had discussed, that
had been magnified because Curry was in an emotional state of mind.
“It is one thing that has been on her mind and for both of us we want to plan our future now and there are a few little things that need to be done first,” he said.
“I am pretty sure it won’t be too long before it all to falls into place (for us).
“It’s something that’s said out of frustration and when you are feeling like that, there are all these negative thoughts that come into your mind.”
It’s been more than five weeks since Curry left for South Africa to take part in the reality series.
She’s been on an emotional roller-coaster and on more than one occasion she has talked of quitting.
Tabone said Curry was a “big thinker” and was most likely feeling emotional because of sleep deprivation.
“It’s been over five weeks now (since I have seen her) … and she was just having an emotional day,” he said.
“She’s a big thinker and will be finding it hard to sleep and she’s an early riser so they will be very long days.
“It’s hard not actually give her a hug and hold her in my arms.”
He predicted Curry and Bassingthwaighte will have a friendship that extends well beyond the jungle and that his partner will not quit, partly because she is committed to raising money for her charity Aussie Helpers which assists farmers in need.
Tabone’s support for Curry has come at a small financial cost to him.
He has voted so frequently to keep her in the jungle that his telco will not allow him to purchase more SMS credits.
“I’ve actually done my limit with premium SMS and they won’t increase it so I have gone out and bought a lot of pre-paid cards so I can vote to keep her in there,” he said.
