On Channel Seven’s Sunday Night, the chef’s “prickly” demeanour was on full display when Doyle brought up his infamous feud with MasterChef judge, Matt Preston.

If you’re not quite across the spat, Preston made some not so nice comments about White’s son, Marco Pierre White Junior, during a radio interview with KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O last year.

The radio duo were discussing White Junior’s appearance on UK Celebrity Big Brother on which he allegedly had sex on camera with a fellow housemate.

“I think it is that terrible thing when you have kids that go off the rails, how do you deal with it?” Preston said to the radio hosts during the chat.

“I mean any dad would feel that whenever your kid goes off the rails the first thing is: ‘What could I have done better?’ I think Marco is no different.”

The MasterChef judge then suggested White Junior had a drug problem, saying: “I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with your children having a highly evolved social life but I think the drugs might be a little bit of a worry!”

Not long afterwards it was reported in The Advertiser that Marco Pierre White told a local newsreader that Preston’s comments were so insulting he decided against appearing on MasterChef and instead defected to Channel Seven to star in Hell’s Kitchen.

“The things he said about my son ... were disgraceful,” White reportedly told the newsreader.

“No one should ever say that about someone else’s children. I will never forgive that man.”

In tonight’s interview, Doyle tries to find out if there’s still bad blood between the two identities, asking White, “Did he cross the line by talking about your children?”

But the British chef is not impressed.

“You know the answer to that,” he says to Doyle sternly.

“I don’t have to get involved. Don’t ask me a question I’m not going to answer and don’t try and draw me into something I won’t be drawn into.”

White was more than happy to be drawn into his fractured relationship with Gordon Ramsay though, who once trained in White’s kitchen.

So what happened?

“We never fell out, really,” White tells Doyle.

“He just happened to turn up to my wedding with a film crew that were hidden in the bushes, filming my children and my friends and my family. And then that appeared in his next food show.

“Would I ever turn up to somebody’s wedding with a camera crew hidden in the bushes? Would you? Because I’m very simple. If I can’t enrich you’re life and you can’t enrich my life, why should we know each other?”

In his Sunday Night interview, White opens up about the death of his mother when he was just six, what it was like opening his own restaurant at 26 and why he retired from cooking professionally in 1999 after being awarded three Michelin stars.

The larger than life personality also gives Doyle a tour of his stunning English countryside estate called Rudloe Arms which is set in 14 acres of mature grounds, formal lawns and wooded areas.
