Baldwin feels that “what we consider normal” in society is entirely a “game of comparison”, reducing how muscular dystrophy has shaped him – and his darkly rich humour.

“I was pretty equipped for the pandemic because it’s like, ‘Oh, people are only just now figuring out the best way to spend five hours staring at your ceiling, thinking about maybe dying.’ And I’m like, ‘That was my favourite thing to do as a kid.’”
Through comedy and sharing his experience as a “misfit”, Baldwin wants to provide his audience with a fresh view of the world and encourage them to embrace difference.
“I think humans are a lot weirder and more different than we give them credit for. We’ve sort of decided that a very limited type of people get to be making decisions in Canberra, and a very limited amount of people get to be on TV screens and in movies, and it’s created kind of this false vision of what ‘normal’ humans are.”
